Welcome to the Indiana Travel web site,
which features travel information on a county basis.
As a lifelong Hoosier & someone who has spent quite a bit
of time bicycling through the Indiana countryside,
my goal here is to help cyclists & anyone else who
might want to travel Indiana's backroads.
Much of the state is heavily farmed, especially in the north.
If you know where to look, you can still find areas of natural
beauty.
Indiana does not have as many state parks as some other Midwestern
states, but its parks are larger and many showcase very scenic areas.
Much of this is due to the foresight of
Colonel Richard Lieber,
who initiated the Indiana state park system in 1916, Indiana's centennial year.
Although born in Dusseldorf, Germany he loved his adopted home as much as
any native Hoosier, and sought to protect its scenic & historical areas.
For each county (listed below) in the state,
you will find links to government, local attractions, events, camping, bed & breakfast,
and historical information web sites.
